Exeter Respect 2008 Part 1

Well this month has been a good one. Not only am I a step closer to finding my feet in my new IT role, but I have replaced my clunky old Sony MZ-R50 minidisc recorder with a Zoom Handy Recorder H2. One of the many bonuses of this new recording device is that it records direct to SD card in a choice of formats, which I can then just drop on to my desktop in seconds. I had a good opportunity to trial it with my Sound Professionals SP-TFB-2 binaural mics yesterday (some results of which I am presenting in this post), and I'm pleased to report that I was astounded by the results. Having located a few reviews that made reference to having encountered some irritating noise with this setup I was greatly relieved!

So this weekend saw the return of the Exeter Respect Festival, and as usual I popped into the Free Family Fun Day to soak up the atmosphere and make some recordings.

The first pair of recordings are of a group who played Indian Devotional Music. The group consisted of a female vocalist, a tabla player, and a sitar player.
